Ingredients

For the Dish:
  • 2 tablespoons Cooking Oil for sautéing
  • 3 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 medium Onion sliced
  • 1 pound Chicken Breast cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 3 tablespoons Peanut Butter Powder or 2 tablespoons of regular peanut butter
  • 1 tablespoon Water to thin the sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Brown Sugar for sweetness
  • 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce for savory depth
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Chili Sauce or Sriracha Sauce for a spicy kick

Equipment

  • Large skillet or wok
  • Wooden spoon
  • Measuring spoons
  • Knife and cutting board

Method

Instructions:
  1. Step 1: Prepare Your Ingredients - Start by mincing the garlic and slicing the onion. Cut the chicken breast into bite-sized pieces for even cooking.
  2. Step 2: Heat the Oil - In a large skillet or wok, heat the 2 tablespoons of cooking oil over medium heat.
  3. Step 3: Sauté the Aromatics - Add the minced garlic and sliced onion to the skillet. Sauté for about 2-3 minutes until the onion becomes translucent and fragrant.
  4. Step 4: Cook the Chicken - Add the bite-sized chicken pieces to the skillet. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and no longer pink.
  5. Step 5: Make the Peanut Sauce - In a small bowl, combine the peanut butter powder (or regular peanut butter), water, brown sugar, soy sauce, and garlic chili sauce (or sriracha). Mix until smooth and well combined.
  6. Step 6: Combine Chicken and Sauce - Pour the peanut sauce over the cooked chicken in the skillet. Stir well to coat the chicken evenly with the sauce. Let it simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes to thicken slightly.
  7. Step 7: Serve and Enjoy! - Once the sauce has thickened, remove the skillet from heat. Serve your Thai Chicken with Peanut Sauce over rice or noodles, and garnish with chopped peanuts or fresh cilantro if desired.

Notes

  • Ensure your chicken is cut into uniform pieces for even cooking.
  • Don’t skip on the sautéing; it enhances the flavors of the garlic and onion.
  • Feel free to add vegetables like bell peppers or snap peas for extra nutrition.
  • Adjust the spiciness by altering the amount of garlic chili sauce or sriracha.
