Ingredients

  • 1 large chicken breast boneless and skinless
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour for coating
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • Canola oil or peanut oil for frying
  • 1/3 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1 carrot julienned, for garnish
  • Cilantro fresh and chopped, for garnish
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Equipment

  • Large skillet or frying pan
  • Mixing bowls
  • Meat thermometer
  • Slotted spoon or tongs
  • Paper towels
  • Serving platter

Method

  1. Start by cutting the chicken breast into bite-sized pieces.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the egg and milk until fully combined.
  4. Dip each piece of chicken into the egg mixture, then coat it in the seasoned flour mixture.
  5. In your large skillet, heat enough oil over medium-high heat to cover the bottom of the pan.
  6. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the chicken pieces in batches and fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  7. Remove the chicken bites from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Toss with sweet chili sauce.
  8. Transfer the chicken bites to a serving platter and garnish with julienned carrots, fresh cilantro, and sesame seeds. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Double-dip the chicken for an extra crunch.
  • Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to avoid greasy chicken.
  • Keep chicken bites warm in a low-temperature oven while frying in batches.
