  • to taste Salt Essential for enhancing the natural flavors of the steak and crab.
  • to taste Ground black pepper Adds a subtle heat and depth to the seasoning.
  • 1 lb (500g) snow crab legs, 2 clusters Look for fresh or frozen, ensuring they are cleaned and pre-cooked for convenience.
  • to taste Chopped parsley For garnish and a pop of color.
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted Richness that complements both the steak and crab.
  • as needed Lemon wedges Freshness to brighten the dish and add a zesty finish.

Equipment

  • Grill or grill pan
  • Large pot or steamer
  • Meat thermometer
  • Serving platter

Method

Instructions:
  1. Step 1: Prepare the Steak - Start by taking the prime steaks out of the fridge. Allow them to come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. This ensures even cooking.
  2. Step 2: Season the Steak - Generously season both sides of the steak with salt and ground black pepper. Don’t be shy with the seasoning—this is what will bring out the flavors during cooking.
  3. Step 3: Cook the Steak - Preheat your grill or grill pan over high heat. Once hot, place the steaks on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or adjust the time based on your preferred doneness. Use a meat thermometer to check for an internal temperature of 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare.
  4. Step 4: Prepare the Crab Legs - If using frozen snow crab legs, steam them in a large pot for about 5-7 minutes until heated through. If they are already cooked, you just need to warm them up without overcooking.
  5. Step 5: Combine and Serve - Once the steak is cooked, let it rest for about 5 minutes before slicing. Arrange the steak and crab legs on a serving platter. Drizzle the melted butter over the crab legs and sprinkle chopped parsley for a beautiful presentation. Serve with lemon wedges on the side for an extra zing.

Notes

  • Ensure your grill is preheated for a good sear on your steak.
  • Let your steak rest after cooking; this allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in a more tender bite.
  • For added flavor, consider marinating the steak in a mixture of garlic, herbs, and olive oil for a few hours before cooking.
