Ingredients

For the Marinade:
  • 1/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 cup chopped sun-dried tomatoes in oil
  • 1/4 cup chopped kalamata olives
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 pound mozzarella balls or block mozzarella cut into squares

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk or spoon
  • Storage Container
  • Knife and cutting board

Method

Preparation Steps:
  1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the extra-virgin olive oil, chopped sun-dried tomatoes, and chopped kalamata olives. Stir well to incorporate all the flavors.
  2. To the bowl, add the minced garlic, garlic powder, crushed red pepper flakes, onion powder, dried basil, and dried oregano. Mix thoroughly until all the spices are well distributed.
  3. Fold in the chopped chives and parsley, which will add a fresh burst of flavor and color to your marinade.
  4. Gently place the mozzarella balls or cubes into the marinade. Ensure that the cheese is fully submerged in the oil mixture, allowing it to soak up all the delicious flavors.
  5. Transfer the marinated mozzarella to a glass jar or airtight container. For the best flavor, let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, but ideally overnight.

Notes

  • For a milder version, reduce the amount of crushed red pepper flakes.
  • Try using different types of olives for a unique flavor profile.
  • Don't skimp on the marinating time for the best flavor.
