Ingredients

For the Stir Fry:
  • 12 ounces hearts of palm noodles
  • 8 ounces ground chicken
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger grated
  • ½ cup reduced sodium soy sauce or gluten-free soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin
  • 1 tablespoon sambal oelek or sriracha
  • scallions for garnish
  • sesame seeds for garnish

Equipment

  • Wok or large skillet
  • Spatula or wooden spoon
  • Measuring spoons
  • Knife and cutting board

Method

Cooking Instructions:
  1. Step 1: Prep Your Ingredients - Begin by draining and rinsing the hearts of palm noodles under cold water. Pat them dry with a paper towel and set aside. Mince the garlic and grate the ginger, ensuring they are ready to go for quick cooking.
  2. Step 2: Cook the Chicken - In your wok or large skillet, heat the sesame oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the ground chicken. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula until it’s browned and cooked through.
  3. Step 3: Add Aromatics - To the cooked chicken, add the minced garlic and grated ginger. Stir-fry for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
  4. Step 4: Make the Sauce - In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, hoisin, and sambal oelek. Pour this mixture over the chicken, stirring to combine everything well.
  5. Step 5: Incorporate the Noodles - Add the hearts of palm noodles to the skillet, tossing gently to coat them in the sauce. Continue to stir-fry for another 3-5 minutes, allowing the noodles to heat through and absorb the flavors.
  6. Step 6: Garnish and Serve - Once everything is heated and well combined, remove the skillet from heat. Garnish your stir fry with sliced scallions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds. Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious creation!
