Instructions:
- Step 1: Cook the Spaghetti. Begin by boiling a large pot of salted water. Add the 6 ounces of spaghetti and cook it according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain the spaghetti and set it aside to cool slightly.
- Step 2: Preheat the Oven. While the spaghetti is cooking, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Step 3: Prepare the Meat. In a skillet over medium heat, add the 1 pound of ground beef and 1 pound of mild Italian sausage. Cook until browned. Drain excess fat, if necessary.
- Step 4: Mix the Cheese Filling. In a mixing bowl, combine the 2 tablespoons of melted butter, 2 eggs, 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, 1 cup ricotta cheese, 1 teaspoon dried parsley, 1 teaspoon oregano, and 1 teaspoon dried basil. Whisk until smooth.
- Step 5: Combine the Spaghetti. Add the cooked spaghetti to the cheese mixture and gently toss until the pasta is evenly coated.
- Step 6: Assemble the Pie. In a greased casserole dish, spread half of the spaghetti mixture on the bottom, then layer with half of the meat mixture. Pour 2 cups of marinara sauce over the top, followed by another layer of spaghetti and the remaining meat. Finally, top with 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Step 7: Bake. Place the casserole dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Step 8: Serve and Enjoy. Let your Spaghetti Pie rest for about 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
Notes
- For more flavor, add minced garlic to your meat mixture.
- Let your Spaghetti Pie cool before slicing for cleaner pieces.
- Garnish with fresh basil or parsley for a pop of color.
- If you prefer a crispy topping, broil the pie for the last 2-3 minutes of baking.
