Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon white or distilled vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons red food coloring
  • 1.5 cups white chocolate chips (10 ounces or 284g)

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Spatula
  • Baking pan (9x13 inch)
  • Parchment paper
  • Oven thermometer

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures the brownies bake evenly.
  2. Line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper, allowing some overhang on the sides for easy removal later.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened butter and brown sugar. Use a whisk to mix until well combined. Add the eggs, vanilla extract, and vinegar, whisking until the mixture is smooth.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, folding gently until just combined.
  6. Pour in the red food coloring and mix until you achieve a vibrant red color throughout the batter.
  7. Gently fold in the white chocolate chips, ensuring they are evenly distributed in the batter.
  8. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then use the parchment paper to lift them out. Let them cool completely on a wire rack before slicing into squares.

Notes

  • Use quality ingredients for richer flavor and color.
  • Don't skip the vinegar for a light texture.
  • Experiment with different types of chocolate chips for a gourmet touch.
