Ingredients

For the Pancakes:
  • 1 1/3 cups unbleached all-purpose flour scooped and leveled
  • 2 Tbsp granulated sugar or brown sugar adds sweetness
  • 2 tsp baking powder leavening agent
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda for extra fluffiness
  • 1/2 tsp salt enhances flavors
  • 1 1/3 cups whole milk adds moisture
  • 3 Tbsp butter melted
  • 1 large egg binds ingredients
  • 2 tsp vinegar or lemon juice adds acidity
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract for aroma

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Griddle or Non-stick Skillet
  • Spatula
  • Cooling rack

Method

Preparation Steps:
  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  2. In another bowl, combine the milk, melted butter, egg, vinegar (or lemon juice), and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Gently stir until just combined. Let the batter sit for about 5 minutes.
  4. Preheat your griddle or skillet over medium heat. Test if ready by sprinkling water; it should sizzle.
  5. Lightly grease the griddle. Pour about 1/4 cup of batter for each pancake. Cook until bubbles form, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Flip the pancakes and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown. Keep warm while repeating with remaining batter.
  7. Serve warm with your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • For fluffier pancakes, let the batter rest longer (up to 10 minutes).
  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less sugar to taste.
  • Try folding in chocolate chips for a sweet twist!
