Ingredients

For the Waffles:
  • 4 cups Hungry Jack Wheat Blends Pancake & Waffle Mix
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/3 cup oil neutral
  • 2 large eggs
  • Zest of 2 lemons
  • Fresh berries for topping
  • Powdered sugar for topping
  • Hungry Jack Microwavable Syrup for serving

Equipment

  • Waffle maker
  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Spatula

Method

Steps to Make Lemon Waffles:
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the Hungry Jack Wheat Blends Pancake & Waffle Mix with water, sour cream, oil, eggs, and the zest of two lemons. Use a whisk to mix until just combined; it's okay if there are a few lumps.
  2. Plug in your waffle maker and preheat it according to the manufacturer's instructions. A hot waffle maker ensures crispy edges and fluffy interiors.
  3. Once the waffle maker is ready, pour an appropriate amount of batter into the center (usually about 1 cup, depending on your maker). Close the lid and cook until the waffles are golden brown and crispy. This usually takes about 5 minutes.
  4. Carefully remove the waffles using a spatula and serve them warm. Top with fresh berries, a generous dusting of powdered sugar, and drizzle with Hungry Jack Microwavable Syrup for the ultimate breakfast treat.

Notes

  • Don’t overmix the batter; a few lumps are okay.
  • Preheat your waffle maker to ensure crispy waffles.
  • Use the right amount of batter to avoid overflow.
