Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 whole jalapeño pepper thinly sliced
  • 2 pound salmon filet
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 whole lemon thinly sliced

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Sharp knife
  • Cooking brush

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). This high temperature will help create a beautifully caramelized glaze.
  2. Place the salmon filet on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, skin-side down. Pat the salmon dry with paper towels to ensure it crisps up nicely.
  3. Sprinkle the salt, pepper, and garlic powder evenly over the salmon. This will enhance the flavor before adding the glaze.
  4. In a small bowl, combine the honey and thinly sliced jalapeño. Mix well to ensure that the jalapeño infuses its spiciness into the honey.
  5. Use a cooking brush to generously coat the salmon with the hot honey mixture, reserving a little for later. Arrange the thin lemon slices on top of the salmon for added flavor and presentation.
  6. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and roast the salmon for about 15-20 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork.
  7. In the last 5 minutes of cooking, brush the salmon with the reserved honey glaze for an extra layer of flavor and a glossy finish.

Notes

  • Store leftover salmon in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Freeze leftovers in a freezer-safe container for up to 2 months; thaw in the refrigerator before reheating.
  • Reheat gently in the oven at a low temperature to prevent drying out.
