  • 1 can black beans or 1 1/2 cups cooked
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder or chocolate protein powder
  • 3 tbsp coconut oil or nut butter
  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup pure maple syrup or keto-friendly sweetener
  • 1/4 tsp pure peppermint extract optional
  • 1 pinch instant coffee optional
  • 1 serving dark chocolate for coating, optional

Method
 

Directions
  1. Step 1: Rinse and drain the black beans if using canned beans.
  2. Step 2: In a food processor, combine black beans, cocoa powder, coconut oil, vanilla extract, salt, and maple syrup. Blend until smooth.
  3. Step 3: Taste the mixture and adjust sweetness or add optional flavors as desired.
  4. Step 4: Form small balls, about 1 inch in diameter, with your hands.
  5. Step 5: Chill the formed balls on a baking sheet for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Step 6: For optional chocolate coating, melt dark chocolate and dip each ball, then return to the fridge.
