Ingredients

  • 6 pieces green onions (white and green parts, finely chopped)
  • 2.5 tablespoons fresh ginger (finely grated)
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • 0.5 cup neutral oil (canola, vegetable, or grapeseed oil)

Equipment

  • Grater
  • Chopping Board
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk or Fork
  • Storage Container

Method

  1. Start by washing your green onions thoroughly. Pat them dry, then chop both the white and green parts finely. Next, take your fresh ginger and grate it until you have 2 ½ tablespoons worth.
  2. In a mixing bowl, add the chopped green onions, grated ginger, and salt.
  3. Pour in the neutral oil over the onion and ginger mixture.
  4. Using a whisk or fork, thoroughly combine all the ingredients until they are well mixed. You want the oil to coat the green onions and ginger evenly.
  5. Taste your sauce and adjust the salt if necessary. If you prefer a stronger ginger flavor, feel free to add more grated ginger.
  6. Transfer the Ginger-Scallion Sauce into a storage container. Seal it tightly and refrigerate.

Notes

  • Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • The flavors may intensify over time, enhancing the sauce.
  • Fresh ginger offers a brighter flavor than dried ginger.
