Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 2 12-ounce bags fresh string beans Look for vibrant, crisp beans without blemishes.
  • 3 tablespoons butter Use unsalted butter for better control over saltiness.
  • 4 cloves minced garlic Fresh garlic will provide the best flavor.
  • Salt and pepper to taste. Freshly ground pepper adds a nice kick.

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Measuring spoons
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Colander

Method

Instructions
  1. Begin by rinsing the fresh string beans under cold water. Trim the ends of the beans to remove any tough bits.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the 3 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Allow it to melt completely and start to bubble slightly.
  3. Add the minced garlic to the melted butter. Sauté for about 30 seconds, just until fragrant. Be careful not to let it burn, as burnt garlic can taste bitter.
  4. Add the trimmed string beans to the skillet. Stir well to coat them in the garlic butter. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes, or until the beans are tender yet still crisp.
  5. Season the string beans with salt and pepper to taste. Stir well and cook for another minute. Once they are perfectly seasoned, remove from heat and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding crushed red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
  • Feel free to toss in some sliced almonds or sesame seeds for added texture and nutrition.
  • This recipe can easily be doubled for larger gatherings or meal prep.
