Ingredients
  

  • 3/4 cup Almond Milk or any preferred milk
  • 1 teaspoon Granulated Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Cornstarch
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 4 slices Thick Bread like brioche or sourdough
  • as needed Unsalted Butter for cooking
  • as needed Maple Syrup for serving
  • as needed Fresh Fruit for serving

Method
 

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 3/4 cup almond milk, 1 teaspoon granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons cornstarch, 1 1/4 teaspoons vanilla extract, and 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Whisk until smooth.
  2. Take your choice of 4 slices thick bread. Lightly toast if desired.
  3. Dip each slice of bread into the custard mixture, coating both sides. Soak for 1-2 minutes on each side.
  4. Heat a frying pan or griddle over medium heat. Add unsalted butter to coat the surface.
  5. Place the soaked bread slices onto the hot pan. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. Remove from the pan and serve immediately, drizzled with maple syrup and topped with fresh fruit.

Notes

  • Don’t rush the soaking process for best flavor.
  • Use medium heat to avoid burnt outsides.
  • Choose thick bread that holds the custard well.
