Ingredients

For the Cake:
  • 1 pound Horizon Organic Unsalted Butter softened
  • 3 cups organic granulated sugar
  • 6 large Horizon Organic Eggs at room temperature
  • 3 cups organic all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Horizon Organic Whole Milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract optional, can substitute with an additional 3 teaspoons of vanilla extract
For the Glaze:
  • 1 cup confectioners sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Horizon Organic Whole Milk or as needed for consistency

Equipment

  • 9x5 inch loaf pan
  • Mixing bowls
  • Electric mixer
  • Rubber spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Cooling rack

Method

Stepwise Method:
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease your loaf pan with butter and lightly flour it to prevent sticking.
  3. Cream together the softened Horizon Organic unsalted butter and organic granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  4. Add the six eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the organic all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the Horizon Organic whole milk.
  6. Gently fold in the vanilla extract and almond extract (if using).
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  8. Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the pound cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack.
  10. Prepare the glaze by whisking together the confectioners sugar and 1 tablespoon of Horizon Organic whole milk.
  11. Once the cake is completely cooled, drizzle the glaze over the top.

Notes

  • Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for best results.
  • Don’t overmix the batter once the flour is added.
  • You can freeze the cake for up to 3 months; thaw before serving.
