Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons butter divided
  • 1 pound shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 6 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes optional for heat
  • 3 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped, for garnish

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Measuring spoons
  • Spatula or wooden spoon
  • Serving platter

Method

  1. Start by ensuring your shrimp are peeled and deveined. Mince the garlic and chop the parsley, setting everything aside. This prep work will streamline the cooking process.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Allow it to bubble slightly but not brown.
  3. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 1 minute, or until it becomes fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic, as it can turn bitter.
  4. Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes on one side until they turn pink, then flip them over to cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes.
  5. Once the shrimp are cooked through, squeeze in the lemon juice and sprinkle with red pepper flakes if you desire a bit of heat. Stir everything together to combine.
  6. Remove the skillet from heat and add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter to the shrimp. Stir until the butter is melted and coats the shrimp. Toss in the chopped parsley for a fresh finish.
  7. Transfer the garlic shrimp to a serving platter and enjoy immediately. This dish pairs beautifully with rice, pasta, or a simple green salad.

Notes

  • For the best results, choose fresh shrimp if possible.
  • Frozen shrimp will work, just ensure to thaw properly before cooking.
  • Adjust the red pepper flakes to your desired spice level.
