Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or canola oil
  • 1/2 cup popcorn kernels
  • a few dashes salt
  • 1/4 cup butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon or more if desired
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon half & half

Equipment

  • Large pot with lid
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Spatula
  • Baking sheet (optional)

Method

  1. In a large pot, heat the 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the 1/2 cup of popcorn kernels and cover the pot with a lid. Shake the pot occasionally to ensure even popping. Once the popping slows down, remove from heat.
  2. Transfer the popped popcorn to a large mixing bowl. While the popcorn is still warm, sprinkle it with a few dashes of salt, stirring gently to combine.
  3. In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and 1/2 cup of powdered sugar. If you prefer a stronger cinnamon flavor, feel free to add more cinnamon to taste.
  4. Drizzle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the popcorn while tossing it gently with a spatula. Make sure all the popcorn is evenly coated with the sweet mixture.
  5. For an extra touch of creaminess, drizzle 1 tablespoon of half & half over the popcorn, tossing again to ensure it’s well distributed.
  6. Your Cinnamon Sugar Popcorn is ready to be served! Enjoy it warm or let it cool completely for a crunchy snack.

Notes

  • For a healthier option, you can use air-popped popcorn instead of oil-popped.
  • Feel free to adjust the amount of cinnamon and sugar to your taste preference.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container to maintain crispness.
