Ingredients

  • 24 sticks Mozzarella sticks choose your favorite brand for best melting quality
  • 24 wrappers Egg roll wrappers for a crispy outer layer
  • 1/4 cup Water for sealing the wrappers
  • 1 tablespoon Lime juice fresh
  • 1/4 cup Olive oil for frying
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 1 recipe 5 Minute Fire Roasted Restaurant Blender Salsa perfect dip
  • 1 recipe Cotija Honey Lime Avocado Dip pairs wonderfully
  • 1 recipe Spicy Fire Roasted Red Pepper Dip adds a smoky flavor

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Frying pan or deep fryer
  • Spatula or tongs
  • Paper towels

Method

  1. Start by gathering all of your ingredients. This makes the cooking process smoother and quicker.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the salt, chili powder, ground cumin, garlic powder, pepper, and onion powder. Dip each mozzarella stick into the spice mixture, ensuring they are well-coated for maximum flavor.
  3. Lay out an egg roll wrapper on a clean surface, placing a seasoned mozzarella stick in the center. Brush a little water along the edges of the wrapper. Fold the sides over the cheese and roll it up tightly, sealing the edges with the water. Repeat this process until all mozzarella sticks are wrapped.
  4. In a frying pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. You want enough oil to cover the bottom of the pan, creating a frying environment for the sticks.
  5. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the wrapped mozzarella sticks in the pan. Fry them in batches to avoid overcrowding. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  6. Once fried, remove the sticks from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb any excess oil.
  7. While the sticks are cooling, whip up your Mexican Bean Dip, 5 Minute Fire Roasted Restaurant Blender Salsa, Cotija Honey Lime Avocado Dip, and Spicy Fire Roasted Red Pepper Dip. Each of these dips brings a unique flavor that complements the Chili Lime Nacho Mozzarella Sticks perfectly.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 10 minutes.
  • For a healthier version, consider baking the sticks instead of frying.
