Ingredients

  • 1 package Cream Cheese (8 ounces, softened)
  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 package Pre-Made Egg Roll Wrappers (16 ounces)
  • Fresh Strawberries (chopped)
  • Chocolate Chips (optional)
  • Powdered Sugar (for dusting)
  • 2 Quarts Oil (for frying)

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Frying pan or deep fryer
  • Spatula
  • Paper towels

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Use a hand mixer or whisk to blend until smooth and creamy. If adding chocolate chips or fresh strawberries, fold them in gently.
  2. Lay out an egg roll wrapper on a clean, flat surface. With one corner facing you, place about 2 tablespoons of the cheesecake filling in the center of the wrapper.
  3. Fold the bottom corner of the wrapper over the filling, then fold in the sides. Finally, roll it away from you to form a tight roll. Use a dab of water to seal the edges.
  4. In a frying pan or deep fryer, heat the oil over medium heat. It’s ready when a small piece of dough sizzles upon contact.
  5. Carefully place a few egg rolls into the hot oil, frying until golden brown on all sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Once fried, remove the egg rolls and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil. Dust with powdered sugar while still warm.

Notes

  • Experiment with different fillings like fruits or flavored extracts.
  • Control oil temperature to avoid burning outside while keeping the inside cold.
  • Let the filling cool slightly to make rolling easier.
