Ingredients

  • 1 stick butter
  • 18 oz cream cheese cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon cracked black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 small box fettuccine noodles enough for 8 servings
  • 1 bunch fresh oregano for garnish
  • to taste salt and pepper

Equipment

  • Large pot
  • Large skillet
  • Wooden Spoon or Whisk
  • Colander
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Step 1: Cook the Fettuccine - Begin by bringing a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the fettuccine noodles and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Once cooked, drain the pasta using a colander and set aside.
  2. Step 2: Prepare the Alfredo Sauce - In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the stick of butter. Once melted, add the cream cheese cubes. Stir constantly until the cream cheese is fully melted and combined with the butter, creating a smooth mixture.
  3. Step 3: Add the Cream - Slowly pour in the heavy cream while continuing to stir. This will help to create a rich and creamy texture. Allow the mixture to simmer for a few minutes, letting it thicken slightly.
  4. Step 4: Season the Sauce - Add the grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, cracked black pepper, and dried oregano to the skillet. Stir until the cheese has melted and the sauce is well combined. Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
  5. Step 5: Combine Pasta and Sauce - Add the drained fettuccine noodles to the skillet, tossing them in the creamy sauce until fully coated. If the sauce is too thick, you can add a splash of pasta water to achieve your desired consistency.
  6. Step 6: Serve and Garnish - Plate the fettuccine alfredo in generous portions, garnishing with fresh oregano for a pop of color and flavor. Serve immediately and enjoy the creamy goodness!

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat gently in a skillet over low heat, adding a splash of cream or milk to loosen the sauce.
  • Avoid freezing the dish, as the cream and cheese may separate when thawed.
