Instructions:
- Step 1: Prepare the Baking Dish - Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease your 9x13 inch baking dish with a little butter or cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Step 2: Arrange the Bread - Layer the sliced Hawaiian bread in the prepared baking dish. Overlap the slices slightly to ensure every piece gets that delicious custard soak.
- Step 3: Make the Custard - In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, granulated sugar, brown sugar, orange zest, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
- Step 4: Soak the Bread - Pour the custard mixture evenly over the bread slices, pressing down to ensure it absorbs the custard. Let it sit for about 15-20 minutes.
- Step 5: Add the Raspberries - Sprinkle the fresh raspberries evenly over the top of the soaked bread, gently pressing some into the custard.
- Step 6: Bake - Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until golden brown.
- Step 7: Serve - Let cool for a few minutes, dust with powdered sugar, and serve with warm maple syrup drizzled on top.
