Ingredients

  • 4 medium sweet potatoes peeled and sliced into fries
  • 1 teaspoon salt and pepper
  • 1.5 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons oregano
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon chili flakes optional
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil

Equipment

  • Air Fryer
  • Cutting board
  • Knife
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Measuring spoons

Method

  1. Start by washing and peeling the sweet potatoes. Once peeled, slice them into fries about 1/4 inch thick. Uniformity is key to ensure even cooking.
  2. In a mixing bowl, add the sliced sweet potatoes. Drizzle with olive oil, then sprinkle salt, pepper, garlic powder, chili powder, oregano, paprika, brown sugar, and chili flakes (if using). Toss everything together until the fries are evenly coated.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes. This step ensures that the fries start cooking immediately once they’re in.
  4. Place the seasoned fries in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to do this in batches. Cook for about 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking.
  5. After 15 minutes, check the fries for doneness. They should be crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. If they need more time, continue cooking for an additional 2-5 minutes.
  6. Once cooked to perfection, remove the fries from the air fryer and serve immediately. Pair them with your favorite dipping sauce or enjoy them as is!

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, soak the sliced sweet potatoes in cold water for 30 minutes before cooking.
  • Store leftover fries in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Freeze leftover fries on a baking sheet before transferring to a freezer-safe bag for up to 3 months.
